Obituary

Cynthia Ann Garrick, 69, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, with her husband still holding her hand and her family by her side in Panama City, FL.   She was born in Panama City, FL to Loydene Botts Dudley and Luther Modell Dudley.  She attended Cove Elementary School, Jinks Junior High, Bay High (Class of 1966) and Gulf Coast Community College.  Cynthia worked alongside her mom at Data Processing before moving to Group W Cable/Comcast until which time she became disabled.  After that she helped in the family tire store at Tire Mart Inc until she and Martin officially retired in 1999.

Cynthia met Martin Earl Garrick at Bay High School.  She fell deeply in love with him and their foundation of love would span more than 50 years.  Their story is truly one of the greatest love stories ever told.  Cynthia came from a long line of love that she was extremely proud of and she embedded in her children.  As soulmates they shared the same interests in cooking, woodwork crafts, boating, gardening and of course making memories with their wonderful family and friends.  They enjoyed many years of building life long relationships in the Shaddai Shrine Character Unit, Sons of the Beach Antique Car Club and the Bay High Class of 1965 Reunion committee.

Cynthia's proudest accomplishment was her family.  She loved them unconditionally and with everything she was. She was so proud of her twin daughters and son but her "perfect" grandchildren stole her heart.  "Memaw" as she was known to them, spoiled them every chance she had.  She was their partner in crime and secret keeper.  Cynthia was an only child but always felt that her cousins Lamar Dudley and Teressa Seaborn were her little brother and sister.  You never met a woman more devoted and dedicated to carrying on family traditions that she herself enjoyed as a child like she did.  Every Sunday was family dinner night and her time to cater to the ones she loved most.  The door was always open and she always had enough food to feed a small army.

Pancreatic cancer may have taken her too soon but her legacy will live on forever in the hearts of her family and all the lives she touched.

Cynthia Garrick was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Modell Dudley and Loydene Botts Dudley.  Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Martin Earl Garrick, twin daughters, Sherry Bruening and Angela Garrick.  Her son, Stephen Garrick and son in love, Tony Bruening.  Her "perfect" grandchildren, Anthony Bruening, Taylor Bruening and Elizabeth Bruening.  Cousins but siblings in heart, Teressa Seaborn and husband Tony and Lamar Dudley and wife Gina, Amanda Dudley McRae and husband Patrick McRae and their sweet boys Landon and Lucas, Kim Cowan and husband Will Cowan, and Ryan Seaborn and wife Kaitlin Seaborn.  A very special aunt, JoAnn Rushing.  She loved and cherished like a daughter Jennifer Kilpatrick and Wesley Stone who she thought of as a grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 3PM in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will be Friday, July 14th from 6-8.  She will be laid to rest among her parents and family in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  Asked by her to serve as pallbearers are William C. Grimsley, Jr., Jimmy Ruthven, Mike Ruthven, Dennis Hall, Doug Martin, David Parmer, Butch McNutt and Wilson Hair.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in memory of Cynthia Garrick to the Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center or Shaddai Shrine Children's Transportation Fund.
