CREED COLLINS GREER, JR.

Mr. Creed Collins Greer, Jr., 77, died August 7, 2009, at home. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1965, when he moved from Springhill, La. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1957 where he studied chemistry and chemical engineering. He served as Plant Manager of Arizona Chemical Company for 13 years before being made Vice President of Manufacturing in 1984. He was a Life Loyal Sig of Sigma Chi Fraternity and a long time member of Rotary International, St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club, Panama Country Club, and Bay Point Yacht and Country Club. He served as President of the United Way and served on the Board of Directors for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Selby Sue Parsons Greer. He is survived by a daughter, Selby Sue Greer Thomas and her husband, John S. Thomas of Auburn, AL; a son, Dr. Creed C Greer, III, of Gainesville, FL; five grandchildren: William Simister Thomas, Raleigh Collins Thomas, Evan Alexander Thomas, Duncan Greer, and Corey Greer; a sister, Jean Cork Greer, of Panama City and a brother, Dr. William Wilson Greer, of Chico, Ca. Memorial funeral services for Mr. Greer will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, August 15, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Wave officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church or Covenant Hospice.
