Conde Alan "Al" Tinnell, 70, of Panama City, died Friday, February 9, 2007. He was born in Minden, Louisiana and graduated from Vigor High School in 1955. He entered the United States Air Force in 1955 and began his communications career as a Ground Communication Equipment Repairman. After graduating from technical training school at Scott AFB he was assigned to Tachikawa AFB Japan where he met his wife Kiyoko. During his tenure with the United States Air Force he became a First Sergeant for the 47th FTW Resource Management Squadron at Laughlin AFB Del Rio, Texas. In July 1977 he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. Mr. Tinnell began his Air Force civilian career on 1 June 1981 with the 2021st Communications Squadron, which later became the 325th Communications Squadron. As the Tyndall Ground Radio Communications Technician of the 325th Communications Squadron, Mr. Tinnell maintained the comprehensive command and control radio transceiver communications systems of the Ground to Air Transmitter/Receiver (GATR) Site at Tyndall Air Force Base. He received numerous awards during his military career. He was a member of the St. Andrew Baptist Church and the Shaddai Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Courson. He is survived by his wife, Kiyoko Tinnell, daughter, Janiece Waldrop and husband, Ken of Mount Juliet, TN, 2 grandchildren, Thomas Waldrop, Philip Waldrop, brother, Len Tinnell and wife, Linda of Saraland, AL, and 3 nephews, Richard Tinnell, Keith Tinnell, and Chris Tinnell. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the St. Andrew Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Claunch officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
