COLONEL (Ret) DONALD LEE WHITEHEAD

Colonel (Ret) Donald Lee Whitehead, 60, of Lynn Haven, passed away Monday, November 02, 2009 in his home. He was born May 6, 1949 in Springfield, Missouri. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri and his master's degree from Troy State University. He served as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force retiring in 2007 after 36 years of service. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work as the Financial Manager for AFNorth. He was a member of Palo Alto Church of Christ and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Ann Whitehead; son, Jonathan Ryan Whitehead and wife, Michelle of Bloomington, IL; step son, Donald Kersten; parents, Don & Luda Whitehead of Jefferson City, MO; sister, Dee Ledl and husband, Joe of Springfield, MO; 2 grandchildren, Bradyn Whitehead, Brenna Whitehead and father-in-law, Jerry Black of Pensacola, FL. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Palo Alto Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL. Those desiring may make contributions to Palo Alto Church of Christ, 3119 Highway 231, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Donald Lee Whitehead.
