Col. George Thomas Murphy, 74, of Panama City, Fl passed away on July 24, 2016. He was born December 28, 1941 to George and Helen Murphy in Boston, Massachusetts. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 27 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as the Director of food service for the Bay County School District for 16 years. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kay Fallon (Mike). He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Deborah Murphy and his beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of their children, Beth Schulz (Greg), Amy Edge (Bud); grandchildren, Nathan Schulz, Sarah Edge, Meghan Schulz, Erin Schulz, Hannah Edge, Emily Edge; sisters, Nan Burgoyne, Helen Cushing (Harvey); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at 11 am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father David O'Shea officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday July 26, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Nathan Schulz, Greg Schulz, Bud Edge, Richard Mathey, Jim Lynch, Roy Kennington, Jordan Browning, Ed Smith, John Bobak and Andrew Mathey Gross. The family is grateful for the love and care provided during his yearlong battle with cancer by the dedicated staffs at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Mahmood's office and Covenant Hospice.
