Clyde "Bill"
Coggins Jr.
August 14, 1932 – January 18, 2024
Clyde (Bill) William Coggins, Jr. was born on August 14, 1932 in Mobile, Alabama. He was reunited with Frances Coggins, his wife of 59 years in Heaven, on January 18th, 2024. He was a resident of Southport, Florida for over 40 years where they built their dream home. As a child, Bill wanted to be an artist and over the years painted over 70 paintings that won numerous awards. However, the Army called him in 1950 and he served 3 years and then he re-enlisted in 1955 and after 20 years of additional service, he officially retired in 1974. He was a fire control specialist for Hawk Missiles while in the Army and had many stories to share about his Army life. He spent several tours in Korea and lived in Panama. He was a patriot through and through and loved our country. After his military service, he did advertising sales for several years at the Panama City News Herald. Bill was a long time member of the First Assembly of God Church of Southport. People driving by the church would often see him updating the message board in front of the church. He loved music and played the guitar on the Worship Team and dearly loved the congregation. Most of all, Bill loved the Lord and his family, friends and his favorite restaurant Po Folks where you could find him most days for lunch. He is survived by his son, Bill Coggins III (Kelly), granddaughter Kristal Young (Andrew), grandson Jon Coggins and his sister, Joann Nairon. Funeral services will be Sunday, 1/21/24 at 2 pm at the First Assembly of God Church of Southport with a graveside service to follow.
