It is with great sadness and tremendous sorrow that I announce the sudden passing of my mother, Christine Turner, also known as Chris Cowan, on May 30th, 2025, at Bay Medical Center. She was an amazing woman that had the heart of gold and would help anyone and everyone she could. Christine grew up in Bay County, FL in Hiland Park and was in the Mosley graduating class of 1980. After completing high school, she went on to join the US Army in 1982 and served 18.5 years as truck driver until she medically retired in July of 2001. While in the Army, she was able to see and explore several different countries and lived in Russelsheim, Germany until 1990 when she was called to war in the Gulf War. After the war, she resettled back home in Bay County with her daughter, Alexis Lilly. Christine was a jack of all trades and there were not many vocations that she could not do. She loved cooking, reading true crime novels, conversing with her neighbors, and above all she loved her daughter with every fiber of her being. Christine is preceded in passing by her mother, Martha Jean DeBerry Cowan and her father, Walter Lee Cowan II. She is also preceded in passing by her daughter, Kirsten Nobles. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Alexis Lilly (Celeste Brutus) (Omaha, NE), a brother Walter Lee Cowan III (Bay County, FL), a nephew Adam (Bay County, FL), family, chosen family, and many neighborhood adopted children that would spend many days at her house. Christine leaves a legacy of love, giving, and laughter. No matter the reason, she would never let a family go without if she could help it. She was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back if that meant someone else would be clothed. After her passing, my mother, provided dozens of local families with a variety of groceries and several dozen bags with clothing items. Even while battling severe health issues herself, she still took the time to create lasting memories and provided sound life advice. She touched the lives of so many people in such a positive way, that she was like the light in a dark tunnel for many. The family would like to thank her caretaker/family, Summer, for everything that she did to make my mother comfortable and provided immense happiness while taking care of her. While the passing of Christine was unexpected and sudden, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all the lives she made an impact on. She will be missed beyond measure.
