IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlotte Coonradt
Fretwell
December 28, 1936 – June 26, 2024
Charlotte Coonradt Fretwell, 87, of Panama City, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in her home. She was born December 28, 1936, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Charles & Naima Coonradt. She moved to Panama City Beach as a young child, then to Panama City (the Cove) in 1948 where she attended Bay High School ('54).
Charlotte attended Bob Jones University in South Carolina, then returned to Panama City to work at the paper mill (the ladies in administration were often called "Paper Dolls") and would frequently leave work to water-ski home, holding her shoes, never even getting wet!
Charlotte married William "Bill" Fretwell in 1958; after having two children, Charlotte worked as a Real Estate agent for many years
When her husband Bill retired from Tyndall, Charlotte and Bill founded Fretwell's Glassworks where they designed and crafted beautiful stained-glass artwork and custom beveled glass home/business entryways, many of which can be found throughout the Cove and other neighborhoods.
After Bill passed away (2015) Charlotte doted on her cats and would often be seen 'running the roads' or visiting The Waffle Shoppe and Cracker Barrel, where they all knew her by name.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William "Bill" Fretwell and her sister, Janice FitzSimons. She is survived by two children, David Fretwell (Carol), and Cheryl Little (Michael); three grandchildren, Jessica Holloway (Mike), Corinne Fretwell, and Delaney Fretwell; and a great granddaughter, Ella Grace, who all lovingly called her Nana.
A private family graveside service was held in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. An open house to celebrate Charlotte's life will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 11-2 at Charlotte's family home. All her friends and family are welcome to come by and share your favorite stories. Charlotte's family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care and support they provided to Charlotte over this past year.
