Mr. Charles L. Webb, age 79, of Southport, Fla., passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Panama City, Florida. Mr. Webb was born on February 9, 1932, in Franklin County. He was Baptist by faith and member of Kingswood Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran, having served as a Military Police and retired from the Florida Highway Patrol as a Lieutenant. He was a member of the Parker Masonic Lodge #142 F. & A. M. and Shriner.
Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his wife Jo Ann Webb, second wife, Lucile C. Webb, father, Thomas J. Webb, mother and step-father, Ola Mae and Berry Walker, brothers, Thomas J. Webb Jr., Robert M. Webb, Kenneth Webb, sister, Lily Mae Webb, step-sisters Bernice Walker, Marie Denton. Survivors include one son, Charles L. (Chuck) Webb Jr. and wife, Bonnie, of Southport; one daughter, Sue Ann Watford and husband, Kenny; three grandsons, Charles L. (Charlie) Webb and wife, Lauri, Jacob C. Webb, Kenneth W. Watford and wife, Mallie; one granddaughter, Lea Ann Smith and husband, Philip; one step-daughter, Carolyn Branch; two step-sons, Jimmy Branch and wife, Alice, Johnny Branch and wife, Brenda; step-grandchildren, David Bazzel, Alicia Durrence and husband, Steve, Allan Branch and wife, Anna, Lacey Counts and husband Stephen, and Lauren, John, Julie, Natalie, Carla, and Joshua Branch; great-grandchildren Kayley and Kinsey Webb, Wyatt and Sawyer Watford, and Natalee and Chance Smith; step-great grandchildren, Jimmy and Sarah Branch; sister, Alberta Lynn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Kingswood Baptist Church, 9206 Kingswood Road, Southport, Florida, with the Rev. Dennis Pledger and Rev. Morris Denman officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 3733 N Hwy 231, Panama City, Fla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Mr. Webb's grandsons and nephews, Charles Webb, Jacob Webb, Kenneth Watford, Jay Lynn, Chris Lynn, and Mike Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be former and current employees of the Florida Highway Patrol.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, 2925 Martin Luther King Blvd, Panama City, FL 32405. The family would like to thank Community Healthcare and Emerald Coast Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
