Charles M. Weathersby, Sr., 84, passed away March 21, 2023.  He was born April 9, 1938 in Randolph County, Georgia to Ronald and Frances Weathersby  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol, daughters Monica Swearingen (Jamie), Angela Jones (Tripp), daughters-in-law Tammy Weathersby and Jill Weathersby, eight grandchildren, 5 nieces and nephews and brother Ronnie Weathersby (Pam).  He was predeceased by his parents, sons Charles, Jr. and Andrew and sister Ginger Driver.

Charles lived in rural southwest Georgia until the age of fifteen when he and his family moved to Panama City. He attended Bay High School graduating in 1956 with the best group of classmates one could have.  He worked at the local paper mill, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving from 1958 to 1962.  His assignments included antisubmarine warfare and recovery of astronauts in America's early space program.  He was honorably discharged in 1962.

He graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. in 1965 majoring in accounting.  Upon graduation he began his career in public accounting, auditing mutual funds and other financial institutions in New York City. After attaining his CPA certificate he relocated to Clearwater, FL and practiced there for sixteen years.  In 1984 he continued his accounting career in Panama City as partner of a local CPA firm.  He retired in 2005 ending a forty year career.

Charles loved God, his family and his country.  He was a member of First Baptist Church Panama City.  He served for 26 years on the board of Gulf Coast State College Foundation, Inc. as well as treasurer for various charitable organizations.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. David Hecht officiating.
