Charles D. (Sonny) McIver has gone to be with the Lord on 11 May 2017 at the age of 87. Being born and raised in Panama City, he touched many lives, always with a ready handshake and a warm smile. He served in the Air Force from 1950-1954. He worked at Tyndall AFB for federal service for 33 years where he retired in 1989. He enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. He most enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing, because fishing was the hobby he loved and enjoyed the most. His other hobbies included taxidermy, wood working and hunting. He will be missed by all. But now he is back to doing what he loves. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Winnell McIver; sister, Peggy Horn of Jacksonville; two daughters, Angie Willis (Ben) and Karol Boyd; four grandchildren, Nevall Parker (Amanda), Nikki Willis, David Boyd (Anna Morgan) and Shelby Lium (JT); four great-grandchildren, Waylon Boyd, Hudson Lium, Denny and Mia Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles D. (Bud) and Monte McIver and siblings Dorothy Pennington, Bill McIver and Liberty Mills. Funeral services will be held on Monday May 15, 2017 at 2 pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Luther Stanford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Gideon's International or to your favorite charity.
