CHARLES ANGUS SCOTT

Charles Angus Scott passed away Wednesday September 11th 2013 in his home after a long and valiant battle with Alzheimer's. He was born October 23, 1934 in Bascom, Florida to Lenny Webster Scott and Harriett Vermell Edwards Scott.
The family moved to the Panama City area when he was a child and he spent his life in the Panama City and Lynn Haven area. Angus graduated from Bay High School in 1954 and married the love of his life Marian McBride in 1961. He was in the Army 1957 to 1959. He joined the Panama City Police Department in 1960 and left the department in 1965 to become a charter boat captain. He worked for the Anderson fleet, Davis Queen Fleet (Star Queen), Marine Transportation, and in 1986 he bought his own boat and started Angus Scott Charters. He sold his boat "New Beginning" in 2002 to retire. He found that he did not like being retired and became a security guard for several security companies in town. In 2010 after a car wreck he really did retire and spent time with Otis his cat and the Westside Men's Club, St Andrew's Masons Lodge 212 and Lynn Haven United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lenny and Vermell, sisters Esther and Elizabeth, brothers Reynolds, Tom Ed and Fred, and the love of his life, Marian his wife of 47 years. He is survived by his children Teresa (Terry) and daughters Katie and Jessica, Charles Jr. and wife Tomoko and son Joshua, and Thomas and wife Shannon. Best friend D.D. Clark and wife Janice and neighbors Walter and Caroline Abbott.
Memorialization will be by cremation and a memorial service will be held Wednesday September 18th at 1 p.m. at Lynn Haven United Methodist Church on Transmitter Road, Pastor James Luther officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19th Street, Panama City FL 32405. The family also thanks Covenant Hospice for all the care, support and help during this time.
