Obituary

Mr. Charles "Charlie" Edward Pratt, age 83, of Panama City, Florida passed away on May 5 th 2014.  He was born on January 21, 1931 in Wiggins, Mississippi to Walter and Bernice Pratt.  He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Kate M. Pratt, his sons; Neil Pratt (Kim) and Bob Hobbs (Janet), his daughter; Becky Thompson (Cary), his grandchildren; Lamar Hobbs (Amy), Joey Tavares (Brittney), and Faith Goodman (Jerry), his great grandchildren; Tyler Tavares, Christian Tavares, Jaeden Goodman, Jackson Hobbs, and Paisley Tavares, his sister in law; Frances Eddins, special nieces; Dawn Keck and Amy Baker, special friend Rhonda King, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  His parents and his sister, Peggy Conley, preceded him in death.  Charlie will be remembered for many things, a loving husband, father, and "Papaw".  He was an outstanding gardener who could grow and tend to almost any plant.  He has been honored on many occasions both professionally, as superior salesman for the duration of his 34-year career with Benjamin Moore Paints, and civically as Stone County Man of the Year, as well as Outstanding Local President of the Mississippi Jaycees.  During his career, he also resided in Tallahassee, Florida and became a life long Seminole.  Throughout his life he loved the sport of football and never missed a chance to watch a game on TV.  He proudly wore his garnet and gold, especially after this year's National Championship Win.  Charlie was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed any opportunity to help raise money by hosting fish fry's.  He will truly, be missed by all who knew and loved him.  The family would like to especially thank the staff of St. Andrews Bay Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation as well as Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care over the last few months.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Craig Brannon and Rev. Jeff Scalf officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Tavares, Christian Tavares, Jerry Goodman, Brian Noser, Brian Eddins, and Jerry Swearingen. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank McDaniel, Bill Buchannan, Charlie Arneau, Carl Hayes, Jack Kennedy, Fred Andrews, and Dr. Liaqat Hayat M.D. and staff.  Memorial donations may be made in memory of Charlie Pratt to Emerald Coast Hospice, 421 W Oak Avenue, Panama City, FL 32401.
