Mr. Charles Summerfield Farris passed away in Dothan, Alabama. Charles was a resident of Panama City, Florida since 1971. He attended public schools in Panama City, including Gulf Coast Community College. Charles graduated from University of West Florida in 1992, with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, Charles was employed in various capacities, including Farris Engineering, and most recently Home Instead. He enjoyed caring for the elderly citizens in the area. He especially enjoyed music and was very involved in his church.
Charles was a strong Christian, who continuously studied the Bible and tried to follow Christ's teachings. He had recently moved to Dothan, Alabama to minister to the homeless. Charles believed this to be God's calling for him. Charles was a very caring person and always tried to help others.
He is survived by his parents, Elvin and Maude Farris; his brother, William (Bill) Farris and wife, Patty Farris; a niece, Jacqueline Farris; four aunts; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make a contribution to the Panama City Rescue Mission or to Northside Baptist Church.
