Charles Edward "Bubba" Ware died peacefully July 15, 2020 shortly after celebrating his 90 th birthday. The youngest of 5 children, Bubba was born in St. Andrews, attended St. Andrews Elementary School before Bay High where he met the love of his life, Adelaide Lindsey. Upon graduation in 1949, he received a football scholarship to the University of Florida playing linebacker for the Gators for four years serving as Co-Captain of the team in 1953. Bubba's lifelong love of football was pursued as he coached in Daytona Beach, Pompano Beach and Nova High Schools before his retirement in 1990.
At 17 years of age he joined the National Guard where he served as a green beret, becoming a member of the Caterpillar Club after parachuting out of a burning airplane. After 20 years of service, he retired with the rank of captain.
Bubba's love of sports, animals and nature was only surpassed by his love of family. The innumerable exploits enjoyed by his children while boating, camping, mining, rafting, in a homemade barge, will live forever in memories.
Returning to Panama City upon retirement, Bubba became active in the First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club and numerous charitable organizations, especially those benefitting children. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Adelaide, children David (Gwen), Melanie (Noreen), Lisa (Ron) and granddaughter Kira Ware.
A private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
