Charles "Chuck" E. Guy, Sr. passed away on October 1, 2022 at age 77. He died at home after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in El Paso, Texas. He retired as a First Sergeant (1SG) in the United States Army with multiple medals and distinctions, including two Bronze Stars with "V" Device, a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and Master Parachutist Badge, after more than two decades of military service. After retiring, he taught JROTC at Meridian High School in Meridian, Mississippi from 1983 to 1990, Westwood High School in Fort Pierce, Florida from 1990 to 1993, and Port St Lucie High School in Port St Lucie, Florida from 1993 until 2006. Chuck was deeply devoted to his family, the military, his students, and his fellow soldiers. He liked fishing, fellowship, and traveling with his family, friends, and other veterans after his second retirement. Chuck was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree) in Bonifay, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol; son's: Charles "Charlie" E. Guy, II, and wife, Kimberly of Lynn Haven, FL; and Christopher W. H. Guy of Panama City, FL; daughter, Shelley L. Guy-Munnerlyn and husband, John Lucas of Loreauville, LA; grandson's: Michael, John Edward, and Andrew Munnerlyn of Loreauville, LA, and Christopher and William Guy of Panama City, FL; and his only granddaughter Abigail "Abbie" Guy of Lynn Haven, FL.; sisters: Jamie Miller, Dory Reeves, and husband Gary, and Lynn McNeil; sister-in-law: Linda Tucker; brother-in-law: Steve Tucker and wife Debbie; and many nieces and nephews.
His father, James Guy, stepfather, Clarence Jeffers, mother, Henrietta Keeter, stepmother, Miriam Jeffers, father-in-law, William Tucker, mother-in-law, Mary "Kay" Tucker, brother-in-law, William "Bill" Tucker, daughter-in-law, Hollie Wilson-Guy, and his favorite furry son/cat, Domino Guy, all preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be conducted in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Panama City, FL, on Saturday, October 15, 2022, with reception from 1:00 to 2:00 pm and services beginning at 2:00 pm. The burial with full military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at an undetermined future date. The family will greet guests from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 15, prior to the ceremonies.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be given in his honor to a local JROTC program or a community outreach organization that mentors and develops future leaders.
