Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Clinton Harris, 69, of Panama City, FL passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He was born on July 21, 1952, in DeFuniak Springs, FL to Lloyd and Lucile Harris. He was an Entrepreneur from an early age. Charlie loved the outdoors and was an avid farmer where he shared with many friends his abundance of produce and plants. Charlie also worked for Florida Game & Fresh Water Fish Commission as a Dispatcher in DeFuniak Springs and a Check Station Operator in Moore's Pasture Wildlife Management Area. He also was Sales Manager for Triangle Chevrolet in DeFuniak Springs, FL and sold Insurance for Life of Georgia. Charlie served several years as a Walton County Commissioner. He always said his job was serving citizens and saving them tax dollars.  He served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs and was active in the Gideon's. Charlie never met a stranger, and it was evident in his work and daily walk. He never left a new friend without asking, "If you died tonight, where would you spend eternity?"

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Diana Hanks Harris, and brother Ronald Harris. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Karen Wimberly Harris; two sisters, Brenda Harris Jackson (Ronnie) of Dothan, AL; Amy Harris Adams (Powell) of Southport; sister-in-law Julie Carter Harris Letchworth, mother-in-law, Sue Wimberly Baughman (Richard); brother-in-law, Ray Wimberly (Evelyn), sister-in-law, Michelle Wimberly Bascetta; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
