CHARLES MURRY "CHUCK" OAKES, II

Charles Murry "Chuck" Oakes, II, 78, of West Bay, died Monday, January 15, 2007 at his home. He was born on June 10, 1928 in Westfield, New York. He was a volunteer fireman for the West Bay Volunteer Fire Department where he served as fire chief retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Pythagoras Masonic Lodge #358 and was Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Murry Oakes, III and his parents, Charles and Isabelle Oakes. He is survived by his wife, Jenny Oakes, four children, Janet Schiedel, of Brooksville, Florida, Susan Green and her husband, James, of Panama City, Larry Snepp and Becky Poe, both of Kansas, five grandchildren, Debra Eldridge, Dale Schiedel, Jennifer Schiedel, Jeff Schiedel and James Murry Green, 16 great grandchildren and brother, Jack Oakes, of Panama City Beach. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in West Bay Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the West Bay Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Chuck Oakes.
