Obituary

Charles E. Blair, 80, of Youngstown, FL  is now in the outstretched arms of Jesus as of Thursday, September 3, 2020 in the ICU at Gulf Coast Medical Center due to complications of COVID-19.  He was born on November 7, 1939 in Hager Hill, KY, son of the late William B. Blair and Mable Lee (Blevins) Blair Pitts.

Charles attended school in Gavers and Lisbon, Ohio. He was Christian by faith. He served in the United States Air Force in Fire & Rescue with the 52 nd Fighter Group. He married Carolyn J. Winters on December 10, 1961.

Charles worked for several years as a radiologist of aviation parts at TRW in Minerva, Ohio. He drove school bus for handicapped children, and also worked at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL in construction and was an excellent carpenter and painter. He served many years in the National Guard with a Military Police unit in Ohio and a Transportation unit in Marianna, Florida. He is a past member of the Hanoverton Ruritan Club and served as a trustee at Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Charles enjoyed the outdoors. Especially fishing and boating. He frequently spent Sunday afternoons picnicking at the park, lake, creek, or springs with his family. He was a generous person who was always willing to be of help to others.

Left to cherished his memories are his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn; his children, Deb (Dean) Blair, Mike Blair, Chuck Blair, and Steve (Laura) Blair, all of Florida and Darlena Hendrickson of Arizona; grandsons Matt (Kim) Bentley, Harrison (Kristie) Bentley, David Blair, Dominic Breger, Reese McFatter and Gabe McFatter; granddaughters Brittany Blair and Cheyenne Bentley; great granddaughters Alayna Bentley and Kaylee Bentley; brothers Bobby Blair of Altha, FL and Richard Blair of Ohio; sisters, Gurlene (David) Ketchum, Vivian Rouse, and Wanda Blair Burris, all of Ohio and Eva (Larry) Hemphill of Sunny Hills, FL, and many nieces and nephews. His brother, William A. Blair, preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Wilson Funeral Home in Panama City, FL. Graveside Services will follow at 10:45 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Darreyl Duggar officiating with full military honors. For the safety of the Blair family and visitors, please adhere to social distancing, and bring your own mask.
