Charles Sanders Anderson was born on August 28, 1936, in Panama City, Florida, to the late Charles Maxwell Anderson and Sue Sanders Anderson. He passed away peacefully at his home with his family beside him on April 23rd, 2025.

He is survived by his sister, Sue Anderson Henderson and her son Phil Henderson (Jenny), their 3 children and their families, all of the Clearwater area.  Passing before him was his niece, Dawn Henderson Pomianowsky.

He is also survived by his brother, Ken Anderson (Pam) and their daughter, Suzie Anderson Laymon (Joe) and their 5 children, all of Panama City.  In addition, Sanders had numerous cousins and their families, most of whom live in the Panama City area.

Growing up, his family spent summers in Panama City and winters in Sarasota, FL, due to the seasonal nature of his father's deep sea fishing business.  Except for 2 years he went to school in Sarasota, graduating from Sarasota High School in 1954. After high school, he attended Stetson University for one year before joining the Navy. He served 1 ½ years on a destroyer and 2 years at the base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where he held a top secret security clearance and received a good conduct medal.

After the Navy, Sanders spent many years working in the family business before moving to St. Petersburg, FL. He was a partner in the Capt. Anderson Marina, fishing and sightseeing boats, for a time he co-owned Anderson Oyster Bar with his cousin, Judy Beth Groom, and he was a partner in Starlite Cruises in Clearwater.

After many years he moved back to Panama City in 2020 to be closer to his brother's family.

A funeral service for Sanders will be held at St. Andrew Baptist Church Wednesday, April 30th, at 11 a.m., with viewing at 10 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Anderson Cox, Alex Cox, Phil Henderson, Scott Helms, Joe Laymon, Mason Laymon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Anderson, Jerry Anderson, Mike Anderson, Brent Henderson, Max Henderson, Ryan Laymon.
