Chalmos Russel Earnest, 83, of Panama City, FL passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, October 2, 2022 after a short illness.   He was born on February 7, 1939 in Donalsonville, Georgia, the son of George and Collie Mae Earnest. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Sidney Earnest and Gans Earnest.

He began and ended a long successful career with International Paper Company spanning a total of 50 years beginning in Panama City and then in Mississippi and Alabama. He was always recognized as a hard worker and very committed to his job.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years Charlene.  He is survived by his son Russ Earnest, step daughters Aleesha Palombo (Frank) and Sonya Smith, a very special granddaughter Sabra Smith, sister Frances Gilbert, sister-in-law Maudie Earnest and numerous nieces and nephews.

After his final retirement in 2020, he relocated back to Panama City to be closer to family.  He was a very special person to his family as well as many lifelong friends.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with a Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Clyde Ellison.
