Cecil Lewis Edwards, 94, of Panama City, passed away on May 26, 2023. He was born in Union Springs, Alabama on November 10, 1928 to Addie Lee and Luther Edwards in Union Springs, Alabama. Cecil moved to Cottonwood, Alabama in 1935 and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1949. He was in the Navy from 1946-1948 and then in the Naval Reserves. Cecil mainly lived and worked in St. Louis, Missouri as a long distance truck driver for 39 years. He and his wife, Fran, retired to Panama City. After retirement, Cecil was a Sunday School teacher, a Deacon, and a volunteer for the Florida Baptist Disaster Relief where he made a difference in many people's lives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Fran; and his two brothers, Jim and John. He is survived by his son, Steve; two daughters, Judy Sanders (Ray Railey); Barb Jaynes (Lonnie), and four grandchildren, Tom, Jeff, Leah, and Zac. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Cottonwood Cemetery, Cottonwood, Alabama. Those desiring may make memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of Cecil Edwards. Cecil's family would like to thank his wonderful neighborhood and church friends and also the awesome staff at Vitas Hospice for all their support.
