Obituary

Catherine Harley Russell, 94, of Panama City, passed away August 11, 2024, in a local hospital. She was born May 19, 1930, to Ernest and Katherine Harley. She had a distinguished career with International Paper Company. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City. She was the most kindhearted and giving person you could meet. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two husbands, J.W. Lowrey and B.J. Russell. She is survived by her brother, Herman Harley (Kay); her stepchildren, Jimi Lowrey (Connie), Karen McNeil, Becky Lowrey (Terri Mattson), Granger Russell, Rolfe Russell (Cathy); nieces, Mary Herbert (Don), Janis Harley and Lisa Morrison (Brad); nephews, John Cox ( Carolyn), Phil Cox (Trudi), Jim Cox and Stan Harley (Gigi Toft); best friend and loving caregiver, Kelly Hodges; and numerous step grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Panama City with Dr. Jeremy Pridgeon officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday prior to the service. Graveside burial services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, Louisiana with Rev. Dr. David Ellis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the First United Methodist Church of Panama City Food Pantry in her honor.
