CATALINA VELEZ VELEZ
Catalina Velez Velez (Doña Caty), 85, of Puerto Rico passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Velez was born on Jan. 20, 1923 in Cayey, Puerto Rico. She was the beloved wife of Pedro Ramon Velez Rosas (Don Pucho) for 64 happy years. She moved to Panama City in 1993 to enjoy her grandchildren.
The mother of Alma Sanders Culver (Randy Culver) of Panama City and Hector R. Velez (Edith Fuste) of Puerto Rico. The grandmother of Lillie Vargas of Lynn Haven, Wilson Vargas,(Judith) of Virginia, Hector Vargas of Lynn Haven, Adrian Sanders of Lynn Haven and Hector Velez Fuste (Angelina) of Puerto Rico. The great-grandmother of Daniel Jenkins (Tali) of Lynn Haven, Joshua Jenkins (Katrian) of Hawaii, Kim Vargas of Georgia, Brett Vargas of Washington, Nayeli Vargas of Puerto Rico, Christian Vargas of Puerto Rico. She was blessed with her first great-great grandson, Donavan Jenkins of Lynn Haven and enjoyed playing with him. She was the third of six children to Petra Del Valle (deceased) and Marcelo Velez (deceased). She is survived by two sisters, Felicita Velez-Cruz (Santiago), and Masin Velez, and one brother, Porfirio Velez (Maria Luisa). She will always be remembered by her nieces and nephews, Alba, Myrna, Freddie, Efrain, Sammy, Diana, Edgar, Ruben, Jose, Rosa Hilda and daughters, Manuel and children and Eddie (Lucy) and children, Great niece Lynn, Cynthia Tirado, (Jose), Ian and Jadon. She was the very best and most loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She played a significant role in our lives, always sharing her lively ways. She was a devoted Catholic and servant of the Lord. She loved family/friends get-togethers, cooking, singing, dancing, sewing, music and attending church at St. Dominic. We will miss her each and every day. Her presence, her voice, hugs and bright smile were a ray of sunshine in our lives. Our hearts will hold her close, and loving memories will keep her near always. She will forever be loved.
The viewing and funeral services will be held at St. Dominic's Catholic Church on Saturday, March 8 at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery on 1400 Frankford. As a believer in Jesus Christ, we know that she will now live in heaven forever.
