Obituary

Carson Augusta Shores, 87, of Panama City, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 in his home. He was born April 6, 1932 in Alford, Florida. He served in the United States Army in the tank division during the Korean conflict. He worked for the St. Joe Paper Company for 42 years as a shift engineer. He enjoyed working on his farm and loved driving his tractor. Carson hobbies included hunting, fishing, and helping others with his woodworking skills. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Ida Shores, two brothers, Edward Shores, Pryce Shores; three sisters, Kathleen Robinson, Bernice Harper, LaVern Gill and his best friend, Homer Hulon Wright. He is survived by his wife, Frances McGill Shores; three children, Pam Freeman (Rob), Joni Broersma (Mark), Jerry Shores (Catherine); six grandchildren, Lauren Sanchez (Daniel), Becky Broersma, Bonnie Broersma, Dekker Broersma, Carson Shores, AnnMarie Shores; sister, Juanita Melvin, brother, Quinton Shores and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 640 Grace Ave, Panama City, FL 32401 with Rev. David Flatt officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Private family interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Carson Shores, Dekker Broersma, Daniel Sanchez, Joel Booth, Scott Cassels and Bill Dodson. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 8190, Lakeland, FL 33802 or the charity of your choice.
