Carolyn Wood

1930 - 2012

Carolyn Rae (Sherman) Wood, 82, of Panama City Beach, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 4, 2012. She was born in Long Branch, New Jersey on January 14, 1930, daughter of the late Raymond and Vera (Harney) Sherman. She graduated from Long Branch High School in 1947 and married her 10th grade sweetheart, Doug Wood (LTC-retired Army), on June 23, 1951. After spending 30 years in the Army, living in Kentucky, Texas, Germany, Nebraska, Alabama and Pennsylvania the couple retired in Panama City Beach in 1979. She had a true servant's heart and selfless love. She enjoyed trying new recipes, was an amazing cook and a patron of the arts. She is survived by Doug Wood, her husband of 61 years; daughter, Jill (Pete) Darling of Warren Center, Pennsylvania; son Doug Wood of Kathleen, Georgia; daughter Shari (Ragan) Nicholl of Islamorada, Florida and daughter Wendy (Lee) Gaudin of Springville, Alabama. She is survived by grandchildren Greg (Faith) Darling and Keith Darling; Brittany, Channing, Landon, and Dillon Wood; Kyle and Rachel Nicholl; Chris Gaudin and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Elijah, Lavella and Jonah Darling. She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law Rae and Bob Cartwright of Lakewood, New Jersey; Evelyn and Jack Tantillo of Fort Pierce, Florida; cousin Lynn DuPree of Middletown, NJ and numerous nieces and nephews.
