Obituary

Carolyn Straughn Turner, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and proud military spouse, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, on her 87th birthday.

Carolyn was born on January 11, 1939, to her loving parents, P.A. and Sara Straughn. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Calvin Turner, with whom she shared 67 wonderful years of marriage built on love, devotion, and faithfulness.

Carolyn and Calvin dedicated over 25 years to military service, traveling the world together and forming lifelong friendships along the way. Carolyn embraced the life of a military spouse with strength, grace, and unwavering support, standing faithfully beside her husband throughout their many years of service.

She is survived by her loving husband, Calvin Turner; daughter, Joan Carnley; son-in-law, Hal Carnley; her cherished grandson, Jesse Smith; and special daughter-in-law, Amy Serr.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy West; grandson, Christopher Shane; and parents, P.A. and Sara Straughn.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to all of the nurses, caregivers, and medical professionals who lovingly assisted with Carolyn’s care. Your compassion, dedication, and kindness brought comfort and dignity during her final days and will always be remembered.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 12-2 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.

A celebration of life ceremony is pending further notice. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wilson Funeral Home of Panama City, Florida. Burial will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.

Carolyn will be remembered for her quiet strength, her deep love for family, and her lifelong dedication to service. Her legacy of love and devotion will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
