Carolyn Ethel Kelley Scott passed away on September 14, 2023 in Greenville, Alabama. She was born in St. Andrews. Florida to Reese Doyle and Julia Maude Gainer Kelley. She was a lifelong resident of St. Andrews and Lynn Haven, Florida. Carolyn's daddy,  Reese Kelley and Uncle Cecil B. Kelley were longtime employees of Panama City News Herald. She was very proud to be the great, great granddaughter of William Augustus Gainer, one of the founding fathers of Washington County at the Econfina area; which later became Bay County.  She was a lifelong member of St. Andrews Baptist Church. She was also a Bay High School graduate. She had a very big heart for all animals and gave so much love to all of them.

She married John Ray "Scotty" Scott who passed away in 2005 . She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Ann Knowles and great grandchild, Clayton Wallace Skipper. She is survived by her three children, Christine Marie Scott McBride (James), Darrell Jay Scott and William Kelley Scott; grandchildren, Robert Edward Skipper, John Thomas Skipper (Nikki), Carolyn Marie Skipper Faulkner (Derek), Angela Michelle Knowles McBride (Corey), Rachel Delight Scott and James Corey McBride (Angie); ten great grandchildren ; other family members include: Mike Retherford, Karen Williams, Sandra Gainer Crowson, Margie Gainer Stackhouse, Pat and Stacey Retherford.

Carolyn was strong until the end. She never gave up on life and she never gave up on her family. She was always there to show her family how much she loved them. She gave her soul to Jesus Christ a longtime ago and it showed in the way she led her life. She will be missed by all of those she touched in her life. She put on her headstone the words "I Tried" and yes she did. We are going to miss you so and we love you "Mama".

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at noon in the Lynn Haven Cemetery.
