Capt. William F. Roland (USCG, Retired), 87, of Panama City Beach passed away on October 15 th in New London, CT. He was the son of the late Edwin and Jane Roland of Old Lyme, CT. He is survived by his wife, Ellena, his children, Karen (Carl), Michael (Jenney) and Rob, as well as his brother, Edwin (Mary). He is also survived by his grandchildren Erik (Sandra), Danica (Charlie) and Carl (Amanda), great-grandchildren Aaron, Alison, Aiden and Sylus, two great-great-grandchildren, Adeline and Amelia, two nephews, John (Pam) and Walter (Anna) and their children. Capt. Roland was a 1956 graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy and served in the Coast Guard for 30 years. He was a long-time member of St Thomas-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church and volunteered in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for over 15 years. A memorial service will be held at St Thomas-by-the-Sea on November 6 th at 2pm, followed by interment at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola on November 8 th . The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent to St Thomas-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 20408 1 st Ave., Panama City Beach, FL 32413.
