CALVIN LANGFORD PERSINGER, JR.
Calvin Langford Persinger, Jr., 84, of Callaway, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009. He was born December 19, 1924 in Fayette County, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he retired as a Senior Chief Officer after 20 years of service. After retirement, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as a radar technician. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Sandy Creek. He was preceded in death by his son, Rick Persinger. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie Persinger; five children, Steven Persinger, of Virginia, Carl Persinger, of Wyoming, Debra Green, of California, Robert Persinger, of Georgia, Maggie Bucholz, of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Katherine Black, of Oakhill, West Virginia and brother, Daniel Persinger, of Mount Hope, West Virginia. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Emerald Coast Hospice, 2925 Martin Luther King Blvd, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Calvin Persinger.
