BRUCE HUGHES LLOYD, Sr.

Bruce Lloyd, loving husband and father, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013. He was known for his gentle spirit and strong faith in God. He served in the United States Navy, graduated from Florida State University and then worked as an electronics engineer at the Naval Coastal Systems Laboratory for 36 years. He was an active member of St. Andrews Baptist Church serving as a deacon for more than 50 years, and as Director of the Martha Lloyd Memorial Media Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha and their son, Bruce "Chip" Lloyd, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rives Lowry Lloyd as well as three children, Rebecca Lloyd Leger, Joy Lloyd Stripling, David Lloyd, daughter-in-law Sherri Smith Lloyd, son-in-law Dan Leger, and three step-daughters, Martha Lowry Howard, Mary Lowry, and Louise Lowry Crow. Mr. Lloyd was blessed with ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and one step great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother Dr. Winston Lloyd, as well as various nieces, nephew, cousins, and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Michael Claunch officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the St. Andrew Baptist Church Center of Hope, 3010 W 15th Street, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Bruce Lloyd.
