Brian Wesley Wolff, born March 22, 1947 at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, died Thursday, November 7, 2024. Brian's spirit now is with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven & will join again his wife, Terry & family. His loving son, Ryan, and friends should remember Brian as a person who was always trying to help others, believed in telling the truth, had a smile on his face, kept busy with projects & was constantly organizing something & planning to make life easier or assist others in future events.
He was baptized & raised as a Presbyterian in South River, New Jersey by his parents, George W. Wolff & Pauline A. (Eib) Wolff. His father passed in January 1996 & mother in November 2012. His brother, Gary G. Wolff of Edison, New Jersey passed February 12, 2019.
In 1965, he graduated from South River High School, attended Parsons College & The University of Jersey City, N.J. until enlisting in the US Air Force in 1967. His duty stations were Sheppard AFB, Texas, Albrook AFB Canal Zone, Republic of Panama & Tyndall AFB Panama City, Florida. On October 28, 1969 he was raised into Masonry at Army Lodge A.F & A.M. in Balboa Panama Canal Zone. He left the military in 1971 with the rank of Sergeant. While at Tyndall (1970-71), Brian met "The Love of His Life," Shirley T. Dykes in May of 1970.0 After leaving the Air Force in June of 1971 & returning to college at JCST, Brian became a founding member of the Jaycees in South River, New Jersey and in 1973 was recognized by Jaycees International as one of its Outstanding Youngmen of 1973 for his many awards, but especially for establishing the towns first mandated recycling program. After earning his B.A. in American History & a New Jersey Teaching Certification from the University of Jersey City, New Jersey (Formerly Jersey City State College) in June of 1973, Shirley Theresa (Terry) Dykes & he were married on November 29, 1973 at her parents' home in Panama City, Florida.
From November 1973 until November 2002 Brian & Terry resided in New Jersey & in May of 1978 were blessed with a son, Ryan W. Wolff. In 1981, Brian earned a Masters in Education from Rutgers University and several educational certificates for supervision & superintendent positions. He taught a variety of social studies curriculums in high school and at two local junior (community colleges) where he was an adjunct professor. His favorite subjects were United States History, American Government & Economics.
Since retiring to Panama City in November 2002, he kept busy around the house, played some golf, was a Master Substitute Teacher at Mosley High School for over 4 years, & was the Administrative Officer, LT. Col., for the Mosley MCROTC for almost a year & a half. He did some volunteering at Gulf Coast Medical Center & volunteered at Grace Presbyterian Church in the Food pantry & distribution of Senior Food Boxes when possible & took periodic trips (2003-2015) with Terry and their son, Ryan.
Brian's wife, Shirley Theresa (Terry) (Dykes) Wolff of 46 years passed February 9, 2020. Brian is survived by his son, Ryan W. Wolff and wife, Tiffany (Rogers) Wolff of Apollo Beach, Florida.
Condolences may be sent to his son, Ryan. A Memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 214 Airport Road, Panama City, Florida 32405, 850-785-5272 to celebrate his life. Rev. Eric Spoon of Grace Presbyterian Church will officiate. A video tribute may be viewed at www.wilsonfuneralhome.net.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can by made in the memory of Brian W. Wolff to the Grace Cares at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1415 Airport Road, Panama City, Florida 32405.
