BONITA HALL SPEAR

Bonita Hall Spear, 86, of Panama City, Florida went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2010. She was born in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas on October 15, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Henry Hall. Bonnie grew up in and graduated from high school in Kansas City, Missouri, and moved to Panama City, Florida in 1945.
After moving to Panama City, she met her husband, the late Judge Mercer Patton Spear of Apalachicola, Florida and they were married on July 6, 1946. Bonnie was active in serving her church and community most of her life. She served as president of the Junior Woman's Club (1953-1954) and was an active member of the Junior Service League, Woman's Club, Garden Club, Petit Point Club, and worked as a Red Cross volunteer. In addition, Bonnie faithfully taught the "Joyful Servants" Bible study class at First Baptist Church of Panama City for over 10 years.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Mercer Patton Spear, and two brothers. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Hall Lauck, of Sheldon, Missouri, her son, Joe Spear and his wife, Priscilla, of Cumming, Georgia, her daughter, Julianne Spear Hill, of Decatur, Georgia, and three grandchildren: Rachel Elizabeth Hill of Decatur, Georgia, and Kathy Leigh Spear and Joseph Spear Jr. of Cumming, Georgia. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Funeral services will be held in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Panama City, on Tuesday February 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service.
