Blanchie June Mercer Smith was born June 8, 1940 to Bertie and Joella Mercer in Lowland, NC. Blanchie graduated from Pamlico High School before going to work as a telephone operator for the local phone company. Soon after, she would meet and marry the love of her life, John Edward. In 1968, they moved to Panama City Beach where Blanchie worked as a school bus driver and homemaker. Later in life, Blanchie and John Edward loved to travel to the North Carolina mountains and spend time with their family. She was a devoted Christian, beloved mother and kind soul who brought happiness to everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward, her parents, Bertie and Joella Mercer, her siblings, Johnnie, Burt, Benjamin, Robbie, Mary, Love and Illa. She is survived by her sister, Sylvia Ross of Lowland, NC, son, Johnnie Smith (Kim Smoot Smith) of Fairhope, Al, daughter, Christal Rabbe of Ponce de Leon, Fl. , grandchildren- Taylor Smith, Johnathan and Jacob Rabbe, great grandchildren- Matthew, Weston, Maverick, Luke. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 11:00am at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
