BETTY POST WELCH

Betty Post Welch, 76, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 31, 1932 in Atlanta, GA and grew up in Panama City. She graduated from Bay High School in 1950 and from the School of Nursing at Macon Hospital in Macon, GA. She met and married the love of her life, F. R. (Tubby) Welch in 1954. After working at several local hospitals, Betty retired from NCSC Medical Branch Clinic after 30 years of dedicated federal service.

Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Tubby Welch; her 2 daughters, Sharon Hicks (Junior) and Sheila Merritt (Randy); 3 grandchildren, Justin Pepin, Meredith Hicks and Russell Hicks; and a host of other family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Corinne Post; her sister, Imogene Karoll; her twin sister, Bobbie Post; and her baby brother, Jimmy Post.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Virgil Tillman officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. The family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses, staff and friends at Community Health and Rehabilitation Center for their excellent care.
