BETTY WALTERS ROGERS
1927 – 2010
Betty Walters Rogers, 82, of Lynn Haven, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in her home. She was born September 29, 1927 in Vredenburgh, Alabama to Ivy and Nannie Walters. She was raised in Nanafalia, Alabama, married in 1950, and then moved to Panama City. She was a retired school teacher for the Bay County School System for 34 years, working primarily with the Hospital Homebound Program. She was a member of the Saint Andrew United Methodist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Rose Prayer Group. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Violet Sessions and her husband, Douglas and Mina Youngblood and her husband, Samuel, and brother, William Thomas Walters and his wife, Evelyn. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joe Rogers; three children, Sheila Pridgeon and husband Cleve, Joey Rogers and wife Carol, Chip Rogers; six grandchildren, Michael D'Aoust, Julie Clampitt, Joseph Rogers, Joshua Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers, Kate Rogers; two great grandchildren, Maddie Clampitt, Mollie Clampitt and brother, Woodrow Walters and wife Inez. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saint Andrew United Methodist Church, 2001 W 11th Street, Panama City, FL 32401, Emerald Coast Hospice, 2925 Martin Luther King Blvd, Panama City, FL 32405 or to the charity of your choice.
