BETTY JANE LEWIS
Betty Jane Lewis, 87, passed away peacefully from Glencove Nursing Home on Saturday morning, May 31, 2008 into God's loving arms and her eternal home. Betty was born and raised in Akron, Ohio where she met her late husband Andrew at church. She began her careers in retail and homemaking. After their daughter's birth, she followed her "Soldier" to Hawaii at the end of WWII. Her homes there were the first of many for her as after her the birth of her sons she traveled worldwide and set up homes in Texas, Japan, Kentucky, Germany, Maryland and Panama City upon their retirement. Betty's love for life, her husband, children and grandchildren, was given generously and was shared warmly with all who knew her. While she excelled at this, she loved every minute of it and would often say "home is where the love is." Betty was intelligent and a natural leader as she was President of the Berlin Woman's Golf Association, many worldwide bowling associations and was inducted into the Panama City WABC Hall of Fame. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Andrew R. Lewis and son, Gary M. Lewis. She is survived by her daughter, Penny L. Fearn and husband Roger, of West Carrolton, Ohio, son, David R. Lewis, of Panama City Beach, daughter-in-law, Glenda M. Lewis, of Southport, grandchildren, Drew and Lauren Lewis of Panama City, Lori, Jeffrey, Pete and Marlene Fearn, of Dayton, Ohio, Ken, Deanne, Matt, Eva, Brad and Stephanie Mullins, great grandchildren, Olivia, Haley, Rhys, Tyler, Brooke, Jordan, Stevie-Marie, Gracie, Bradley, Katie, Ethan and Maddie. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Private family graveside services will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your personal charity in memory of Betty Lewis.
