BETTY JEAN KING
Betty Jean King, 75, of Lynn Haven, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009. She was born July 26, 1934 in Campbellton, Florida to James Hallie and Dorothy Jackson Dorman. Her family moved to Bay County around 1940. She graduated from Bay High School in 1952 and married James M. "Jimmy" King the same year. Betty Jean loved going to seafood festivals, gospel sings, swimming and walking in the mall. She was Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Harold Dorman, sister, Carolyn Lashley and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James M. "Jimmy" King, Sr.; two sons, Jimmy King, Jr. and wife Candace, of Panama City, Steve King, of Dothan, AL; grandchildren, Justin King and wife Tiffany, Wesley King, James Hallie King, Karla Burris and husband Joe, Steven King and Matthew King; two great grandchildren, Cheyanne Burris and Brendan Burris; in-laws, Dayton Lashley, Sandra Schmitz and husband Mike, uncle, Billy Joe Dorman and wife Thelma and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Covenant Hospice or to Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Betty Jean King.
