BETTY JEAN HUGHES

Betty Jean Hughes, 71, of Panama City, passed away December 8, 2009 in Gainesville, Florida. She was retired from the State of Florida. She was preceded in death by her father, Lamar Blount, and a sister, Patricia Waters. She is survived by her children, Debbie Cooper and husband Mark of Panama City, George "Marty" Hughes Jr. and Michael Hughes, both of Panama City Beach, 4 grandchildren, Eric Cooper and wife Tara of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Torie Cooper, Joshua Hughes, both of Panama City, and Melissa Hughes, 4 great grandchildren, mother, Era Dell Blount, sister, Ruth Taylor and husband Austin, brother, Larry Blount, sister, Pam Tiller and husband Charles and brother, Timothy Blount, all of Panama City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Marty Hughes, Mike Hughes, Eric Cooper, Larry Blount, Tim Blount and Mark Cooper. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. After the service on Saturday, the family will gather at the home of Pam Tiller, 6829 Highway 2311, Panama City.
