BETSY WATSON DANNER
Betsy Watson Danner passed away at her home on January 18, 2009. Betsy was born on November 19, 1928 in Wilmington, Delaware to Mark and Mabel Watson. She met her husband of 56 years, John B. Danner, Jr. when he hired her to work as an executive assistant at Scott Paper Company's corporate headquarters in Chester, PA. After their marriage John and Betsy moved to Detroit MI for several years before John was transferred to Scott Paper's largest facility in Mobile, Al. In 1984, after John retired from Scott; Betsy and John moved to Perdido Key, FL. At their beach home on Perdido Key, Betsy became know over the years fondly as "The Popsicle Lady" to many vacationing families. She loved to see the children smile and come running across the beach as she handed out popsicles to them on hot summer days. She and her husband John moved to Panama City, FL in 2004 to be closer to family after Hurricane Ivan destroyed the beach home.
Betsy was preceded in death by her parents Mark and Mabel Watson. Survivors include her husband John B. Danner, Jr.; son John B. Danner, III (Jack); and his wife Pauline of Panama City, FL., and two beloved grandchildren, Virginia Danner of Panama City, Fl. and John B. Danner, IV (Benjamin) of Tallahassee, FL.
The family will receive friends and celebrate Betsy's life at Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday January 20, 2009 between 6 PM and 8 PM.
