Bertha Marie Cockcroft, 93, of Panama City, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2015. She was born February 21, 1922 in Panama City to Jacob & Ida Annie Godert. She graduated from Bay High School in 1941 and received her nurse's training at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. She served in the United States Army Nurses Corp during World War II. She was a retired register nurse having worked at Adams Hospital and International Paper Company. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin Cockcroft; son, William "Bill" Jacob Cockcroft; 2 granddaughters, Justine Elizabeth Kelly, Katelyn Rae McGill; sister, Minnie Godert and a brother, Jacob Emil Godert. She is survived by 3 daughters, Marie Nelson (Ronnie); Linda Kelly, Avis McGill (Kenny); sister, Agnes Godert; 6 grandchildren, Kenya Williams, Jeremy Nelson, Jacob Nelson, Rochelle Bowman (Jonathan), Ashley Kelly, Ricky McNaron (Tonilea); 8 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob, Marleigh, Peyton, Janelle, Kelli, Maylea and Jase. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Josh Spiers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
