Bernard C. (Ben) Meredith, 91, of Panama City, Florida graduated to eternal life on April 30, 2018. He was born on October 5, 1926, in Richmond, Virginia to Bernard Sr. and Marie (Eady) Meredith.
Ben grew up in Richmond, Virginia, graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and joined the US Navy where he served on the USS Davison as a Fire Controlman 3rd Class during World War II. After the War he attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute graduating in 1950 with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Ben served 36 years in Federal Service with the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He retired as the Technical Director at the Air Force Civil Engineering and Services Center at Tyndall AFB in 1986. He was a charter member of the Senior Executive Service of the United States.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elizabeth Brooks (mother of Whitney and Marsha) and his wife June Cofer (mother of Matt). Survivors include his beloved wife of over 34 years, JoAnn Meredith and their shared children: Teresa LaRocca (John), Mike Robinson, Pat Robinson (Patty), Whitney Meredith, Steve Robinson (Becky), Marsha Pendoley (Tom), John Robinson (Dan), and Matt Meredith (Missy). Ben was also blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Ben was a long-time member of Forest Park United Methodist Church. He also volunteered with local youth soccer programs and various missions projects. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral home from 5 pm until 7 pm, Thursday, May 3, 2018. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Forest Park United Methodist Church at 10 am, Friday, May 4, 2018. with Dr. John Friedman officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tuesday night Emmaus Group. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.
