BENNY CLAY LISTER
Benny Clay Lister, 66, passed away at his home Saturday, May 31, 2008.
He was born in Panama City, Florida on June 28, 1941 and was a lifelong resident of Wewahitchka, Florida. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Wewahitchka. He graduated from Florida State University in 1963 with a BS in Business Administration with a major in Accounting.
Benny was elected as the Gulf County Clerk of Circuit Court in 1986 and served until his retirement on January 1, 2001. Prior to his service for Gulf County, he was an auditor for the State of Florida for 19 years. He also served on the board for Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Sellers Lister; his father, Roy Dayton "RD" Lister; and his mother, Maxie Ellis Lister. He is survived by his children, Dayton Clay Lister, Darryl Thomas Lister, and Ashley Lister Forehand; his brother, Roy Lister; and his grandchildren, Cameron Clay Lister, Savannah Hope Lister, Madison Paige Forehand, Avery Ann Forehand, and Amelia Paige Lister; and a special aunt, Eddie Belle White.
Serving as Pall Bearers are: Justin Barnes on behalf of Roy Barnes, Douglas Birmingham, Roy Lee Carter, Terry Linton, William "Hamp" Linton, and Ted Whitfield.
Visitation will be held at First United Methodist Church of Wewahitchka on Monday 6:30 – 8:30 CDT. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Wewahitchka on Tuesday at 2 p.m. CDT with graveside services following at Jehu Cemetery. Rev. Joey Smith will be officiating and Claude Lister Jr. will be delivering the eulogy.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2012-A Lisenby Ave., Panama City FL 32405 in lieu of flowers.
