BARNEY CLIFF GAY
1946 -2010
Barney Cliff Gay passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Barney was born in Orlando, Florida on December 6, 1946, and moved to the Panama City area a year later. Barney attended Bay County Schools and graduated from the first graduating class of Rutherford High School in 1964. He then joined the U.S. Army Reserves, serving from 1964 to 1970. Barney was a General Mechanic with Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. for over 38 years. He spent many enjoyable hours boating and fishing and also held a special place in his heart for all of his pets.
Mr. Gay was predeceased by his mother, Lessie Mae Miller, step-father, Clarence Miller, father, Cliff Gay and step-mother, Cassie Gay. He was also preceded in death by his son, Matthew Cliff Gay.
Mr. Gay is survived by his daughter-in-law, Linda Gay; and his grandchildren, Ludwig Gay, Amanda Gay, Jakob Gay and Ruby Mitchell-Gay.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 1 at 6 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 – 6 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bay County Humane Society, P.O. Box 883, Panama City, FL 32402 or to your favorite local charity in memory of Barney Gay.
