Barbara Bookout Tappan, born on November 21, 1955, in Chipley, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, in Panama City, Florida. She was the beloved daughter of James and Evelyn Bookout and a devoted mother to her children, Ray, Jordan, Brenda, and Andrew Tappan. Barbara was also a cherished grandmother to Jae Tappan, Leonardo Pope, Michelangelo Pope, and Kiley Tappan-Voris.

Barbara dedicated her career as a certified nurse anesthetist at Gulf Coast Hospital, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to her patients. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gordon Tappan, with whom she shared over 25 years of marriage, and her son, Raymond Marshall Tappan. She is also survived by her mother, Evelyn Bookout, her siblings Dr. James M. Bookout, Linda A. Bookout, and Carol L. Leger, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A woman of many talents, Barbara enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking, often sharing her homemade meals with family and friends. Nothing brought her more joy than helping others, and she was known for her selflessness and kindness, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Her love and compassion for her family and friends knew no bounds, and she embraced life with a strong will and a warm smile.

Barbara's legacy will be remembered through the many lives she touched. She embodied the spirit of a true Christian, always putting others first and offering support to anyone who crossed her path. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, but her beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Faith Tabernacle Church, 2540 Fairland Ave., Panama City with Pastor Horace Slay officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.  Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2 p.m. in the Westville Cemetery, Westville, FL.
