Arvil Dunaway, 88, of Panama City, passed away January 29, 2019 in Sims Veteran Nursing Home. He was born August 19, 1930 in Greenwood, Florida to William and Clara Dunaway. He was a medic for the United States Army for 20 years; serving in the Korean War. After the service, he obtained his bachelors degree in Theology and served as a minister. He was a member of the St. Andrew Baptist Church where he helped to start the St. Andrew Benevolence, which is now known as the St. Andrew Community Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Dunaway; four children, Arvil Glenn Dunaway, Cynthia Nelson (Dr. Miles Nelson), Constance Walters (Terry Walters) and Tammy Teresa Dunaway; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Morris Denman officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to service time. Those desiring to may make a donation to the St. Andrew Community Medical Center in memory of Arvil Dunaway.
