Obituary

Annie Jean Blane was born to Lee (Ted) and Leola Blane, on November 13, 1959 in Covington, Georgia. She was the second of three siblings, all of whom kindly supported her through her lifelong battle with developmental disabilities. Just a few months shy of her birthday, at the age of 58, Annie went home to heaven at 1:03 AM on June 27, 2018, while resting at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her elder brother, Leotis Blane, of St. Petersburg, FL, and his 3 children, Linda Davis (Marianna, FL), Jessie Blane (Denver, Colorado) and Leslie Blane (St. Petersburg, FL). Her parting message has inspired a poetic tribute by her younger brother, Anthony Jerome "Mike" Blane (Newark, NJ) and his 5 children: Shalean, Howard, Dominique, Anthony and Tony Blane.

Annie will be sadly missed by surviving aunts: Lessie Mae Pittman, of (Tampa, FL); Elizabeth Gauson (Newark, NJ); and Virginia Dianne Bellamy (Atlanta, GA). She leaves to mourn several uncles, including: William Bellamy, Carl Bellamy, and Nathan Bellamy (all residents of New Jersey), and Randolph Bellamy (Mobile, Alabama).

Annie was preceded in death by her parents, paternal grandparents (Nathaniel and Curlie Mae Bellamy), maternal grandparents (Raymond and Emma Lou Wynn) maternal great-grandfather (Ulysses Godwin), one nephew (Naykee Bostic), and a host of other relatives.

The family has very fond memories of Annie Jean. She was known for her signature smile, no matter how she felt. She would have seizures, but as soon as they were over, she SMILED. She knew our voices and would respond with a smile. She would respond talking to us in her own way. She would be excited when her Mom and Dad would talk to her. She resided with her parents and grandmother until they were no longer able to keep her due to her handicap. They were forced to put her in a special facility for persons with developmental disabilities in order to ensure that she received the proper care for her condition.

Annie Blane has officially been served under public guardianship through the North Florida Office of Public Guardian since January 7, 2013. From February 6, 2013 until the time of her transition, Annie resided at and as cared for by more than a dozen medical specialists and a host of caregivers at the Sunrise Community intermediate care facility in Tallahassee, FL. Her residential family is deeply saddened by her loss.

We believe that every child is a different type of flower. Annie proved daily that she was a miracle. She never gave up. Our minds still think about her, our hearts still long for her, but our souls know that she's free and happy now!

Funeral services will be held on July 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM (CST) at the Springfield AME Church, Marianna, Florida. Pastor Hollis McClendon will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM (Marianna Time) prior to service time at the church.

Interment will follow at the Springfield AME Church Cemetery.
