Obituary

Anne Daffin Harris, 81, passed away on January 26, 2024 at Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City. She was born on September 20, 1942 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Dr. Charles H. and Dorothy Daffin and moved to Panama City with her family as a child.

Anne was a 1960 graduate of Bay High School, where she made lifelong friends and was First Chair Flautist in the Million Dollar Band.

Over the years she worked in, and ran medical offices in town until her entrepreneurial spirit took hold and she started the first of several businesses alongside her beloved husband Carl Harris, most notably Professional Office Support. Anne was a generous and caring employer whom never let anyone put in more hours than she did. She was a proud Florida Notary and greatly enjoyed presiding over hundreds of weddings and, later in life, mortgage closings. She adored being a part of these events that were so special in people's lives.

She and Carl found each other at the perfect times in their lives. They married in 1981 and blended their families together lovingly. Their home has always been bustling with friends and family coming and going. Somehow, there was always room for everyone.

Anne was a member of the St. Andrew's Bay Chapter of the D.A.R., a 50-year member of the Captain James Day Chapter of the Florida Society Colonial Dames, and a member of the Woman's Club.

She opened her home and served as a loving caregiver to several family members and loved ones.

Predeceasing her were her parents, her stepfather William Randall, her son Christopher Gailfoil, and her brother Charles Hall Daffin II. She is survived by her husband, Carl James Harris; children, Michael Gailfoil (Deana), Shawn Harris (Omar), stepdaughter Karrie Garrett (Robert), and Leighanne Newberry Vasquez (Javier); her grandchildren Chad, Kristen, Kimberly, Jennifer, and Lucia; her sister Melinda Henningfield (Wayne); her sister-in-law Inocencia Daffin; her best friend Harriet Jernigan, and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 4-6 pm at Wilson Funeral Home.

Services will be held at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 am. Refreshments will follow the service.

The family would like to sincerely thank the skilled and compassionate ICU nursing staff at Gulf Coast Hospital and family friend Linda Mills for their wonderful care of Anne and her loved ones.
