Amy Rish Musgrove
1928-2009
Mrs. Amy Musgrove, age 80, passed away September 2, 2009 at her home in Lynn Haven. She was raised in Wewahitchka, Florida and graduated from high school in 1946. She received a B.S. in Education from Florida State University in 1949.
Amy taught school in Calhoun, Gulf and Escambia counties before coming to Bay County in 1956. She taught 4 years at Lynn Haven Elementary, then 20 years at Bay High School, completing a 31-year teaching career.
After retirement, she enjoyed volunteer work. She served on the Auxiliary at Bay Medical Center for several years. She also volunteered with the Council on Aging for 15 years delivering Meals on Wheels.
Amy was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lynn Haven. She was an Elder, serving as an active Elder for 2 terms. She held many offices in the Presbyterian Women's work on the local and Presbytery level. She received a Lifetime Membership from the local P.W. She was a member of the Circle of Naomi for about 35 years. She considered her church work a privilege and honor, a wonderful way to serve and worship God.
She was predeceased by her husband, C.D. Musgrove, her parents James and Fannie Lou Rish, her sisters, Marguerite Brock and Jeannette Floyd and a brother, James F. Rish Jr.
She is survived by a sister, Jeanette Bowden, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Lynn Haven with Dr. Dan Mitchell, Dr. John Friedman and Rev. Allen Singley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Chipola Cemetery in Altha, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Lynn Haven, 810 Georgia Avenue, Lynn Haven, Florida 32444 or to Emerald Coast Hospice, 2925 Martin Luther King Blvd, Panama City, FL 32405.
Active pallbearers will be Hub Chason, Mike Fansler, Dick Lievestro, Max Bowden, Todd Bowden and Richard Holley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Presbyterian Women of Florida Presbyterian Church Lynn Haven, Florida.
