Sheltered in the Arms of God in this life and now into life everlasting, Alton Evans joined his Heavenly Father and family on May 26, 2024. At the age of 86 years old, Alton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family.

Alton was born in Winfield, Alabama and moved to Panama City, Florida when he was six years old.  He attended public schools and graduated from Bay High School.

Alton, along with his wife Ima, had a passion for the Gospel and shared the Word through song via TV and radio broadcasts in his early years of service.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City, Florida.  Alton was a building contractor at Drummond Park/College Village properties and later in life became a courier for Gulf Coast Diagnostic Center.  In the course of his work, Alton was able to develop meaningful relationships with many people, share Jesus, and promote the gospel.  He was a loving and compassionate prayer warrior and a dedicated fisher of men to the Glory of God.

Alton was preceded in death by his wife Ima Raffield Evans, his son, Steven Allen Evans, his parents Albert and Ethel Evans, and his brothers and sisters.

Alton is survived by three daughters, Pamela Jones (Steve), Cindy Bailey (Ray) and Kimberly Evans; six grandchildren, Wesley Jones (Crystal), Troy Evans, Jeremy Evans (Alison), Kyle Evans (Holly), Kayla Gibbens (Richard) and Evan Jones; seven great grandchildren, Justin, Leela, Shane, Ivy, Kinslea, Lawson, and Claire; as well as extended family members.

Alton cherished his family and loved being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

We are thankful to God for our precious caregivers, VITAS (Covenant) healthcare team, Dr. Maria Parris, Nurse Valerie and Ascension staff.  All of you made it possible for our dad to fulfill his heart's desire to remain at home with his family until his Homegoing.

Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. David Hecht at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, May 31, 2024.  The family will receive friends at 10:00 am for visitation followed by a service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
